In January of 2022, Pavilion Theatre put out a call to artists at any level of their career looking to develop an idea, a script, a play, or a concept to apply to our new studio space. Pavilion Studio is located above the Irish Design Gallery, overlooking dlr Lexicon and the beautiful East Pier in Dun Laoghaire, just a short walk from the theatre itself. Artists were provided with a bright, spacious, quiet place with Wi-Fi and kitchenette facilities that allowed them to write, hold meetings, try out ideas, or simply dedicate time to their creative practice in a way they couldn’t otherwise.

Following overwhelming interest and a successful trial run, the scheme was extended and has continued to provide space, time, and support to artists with a growing list of applicants each cycle.

In the first year of the scheme, we supported over 40 artists, and we have been delighted to play a part in their personal and professional development as they show no signs of slowing down – and neither do we!
