A few lines about Pavilion Theatre, who we are and what we do

Located in the picturesque seaside town of Dún Laoghaire, Pavilion Theatre was built in 2000 as a municipal theatre for the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown area. It has since grown and established itself as a cultural hive of activity and entertainment for thousands of visitors each year.

With a maximum capacity of 324 seats, Pavilion Theatre’s exciting and diverse programme of events entertains audiences from all over Ireland and the world.

Our dedicated and hardworking team of 6 full-time staff and several part-time staff make every effort to ensure a high standard of art and culture is presented at Pavilion Theatre, from international theatre, cinema, dance and music companies, as well as the best of local and national professional and amateur companies.

Pavilion Theatre is also dedicated to the support of new work and in 2015 we introduced an annual Artist Bursary Award for individuals, companies or collectives from the arts at all stages of their careers who seek support for performance projects of all types and at all stages of development.

Historically based within the world of dance, music and cinema in the Dún Laoghaire area since 1903 (as can be seen in our 2016 commissioned “The History of Pavilion Theatre” permanent exhibit), Pavilion Theatre reflects on the successes of the past with the aim of continually improving its service and dedication to the arts and to each of its visitors that walk through the doors.
